This Guy Didn't Know He Shot Himself in the Head with a Nail Gun [Wtf]
Dante Autullo is a tough guy. He's also, according to his wife, a very accident prone guy. So when he accidentally hit his head with a nail gun and only saw a scratch, he didn't think anything of it... EVEN THOUGH HE HAD A FREAKING NAIL LODGED IN HIS BRAIN. More »

You Won't Believe How Much This USB Cable Costs [Wtf]
I've long been over the ridiculously overpriced-ness of idiotic Vertu phones. 300 grand for a dumbphone? Whatever, the stupid rich who spend that stupidly are beyond saving anyway. But Vertu has hit a new low (or high?) with this one: a $190 Vertu USB cable. More »

WAHHHH! These Horrible People Didn't Get What They Wanted for Christmas [Christmas]
Christmas! A cheerful time, right? The spirit, the decorations, the gift giving, the time off, it's supposed to be happy! Not for these horrible people. Ungrateful punks and out-of-touch teens have all taken to Twitter to complain about what they didn't get for Christmas and how they now hate life and everything Santa Claus. It's a shit show. Slate's Dumbest Inventions Ever List Includes Beating Breasts. You know, For Kids [Wtf]
Ladies and gentlemen, these are our ancestor's Billy Mays infomercial products. Judge them lightly, but laugh heartily, for in 50 years' time our great grandkids will laugh openly at our version of the Beating Breast baby sleeping aide. More »

Anti-Nanotech Terrorists Are Bombing Professors Because They Think Nanotechnology Will End the World [Terrorism]
Of all the things people could go terrorist for—oppressive governments, etc.—there's a group that chose anti-nanotechnology. I wish I was kidding. They call themselves the "Individuals Tending to Savagery" and have attacked two professors in Mexico with bombs. More »

Internet Explorer Users Aren't Really That Stupid. That Was Just a Hoax! (Yeah, Sure). [Hoaxes]
A widely circulated report that showed Internet Explorer users as having lower IQs than people who use other browsers turned out to be fake. I mean, come on, it's a little too convenient, right? Dumb people and dumb software! More »

Only Tiny Prick Idiots Would Pay $7,500 for the World's Most Exclusive E-Mail Address [Dumb]
Look, I know some people are rich beyond belief. They use $100 bills for toothpicks, stitch money together for blankets, whatever. But even if you're THAT rich, you're a complete idiot for paying $7,500 for an e-mail address. More »

Don't Saw Off Your Son's Cast Cause You'll Chop His Fingers Off [Dumb]
Sawing off a cast is totes normal...if you're a doctor. Sawing off a cast when you're not a doctor? Not at all recommended. So why oh why, Lawrence Roberts, did you saw off your son's cast? He's missing fingers now! More »

Contact Lenses Made from Diamonds & Gold Are Too Much Bling [Dumb]
I'm all for spending money anyway you want to—grills, watches, boulder-sized rings, blinging chains—but come on, paying $15,000 for diamond and gold contact lenses is stupid. When did sacrificing your eyes become cool? More »

Please Don't Spend $410 on This Bottle Opener [Wtf]
This is the Code-38 Pro Stealth, also known as the $410 corkscrew. Four hundred and ten dollars make for "a complete blend of blasted textures and vaporized titanium based finishes" that opens bottles and uncorks wine. Which is fucking ridiculous. More »

The Age of $30 Movie Rentals Is Upon Us [Rant]
Following through on what probably started as an epic round of double dog daring, four major studios—Warner Bros., Sony, Universal and 20th Century Fox—have agreed that charging $30 for streaming movie rentals is a pretty great business model. Not current-run movies, either! "Home Premiere," as it's being called, only includes movies that are up to two months removed from their theatrical debuts. Shut. the. front. door. More »

A Guy Got Arrested for Using an App to Pretend to be the Police [Dumb]
Your smartphone? It can do a lot of different things with apps. Like stream March Madness games or listen to Pandora or even flash blue and red lights that mimic police lights! Alexander Welch, a 20-year old Boise kid, used that snazzy police lights app in a prank to get a car to pull over. Once the car pulled over, Welch drove away. Solid prank pretending to be the police! Well, not so much. More »

New Jersey Was About to Sell Confidential Data in an Auction and They Had No Idea [Wtf]
New Jersey was prepared to auction off some old computers and laptops in a state-run auction to raise funds, a pretty common practice in our lean times. Idiotically though, the computers, which were used by the judiciary branch, the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Office of Administrative Law, still contained sensitive confidential information on their hard drives. All that revealing information was about to go to the highest bidder because no one bothered to properly wipe the drives. More »

Robbers Break Into Prison to Steal a TV [Crime]
Most sane people, like you and me, do all we can to avoid prison. Not these idiots in New Zealand though, they broke into prison to steal a 50-inch plasma TV. The numbnuts set some drapes in an administrative building afire and that's when police realized the New Plymouth Prison, a minimum to high security prison, had been broken into. The only thing the police found missing was the TV, guess the robbers, who took away on foot, didn't want to bother with the bolted down furniture and prison garb. [Stuff.co.nz] More »

In Louisiana, the Historical Record Is a Wikipedia Printout [Bad Ideas]
The next time you think about hitting up Baton Rouge for some historical enrichment, you can save yourself the trip. Because at this statue of Louisiana's first governor, the biographical write-up is two printed out pages out from his Wikipedia entry. From 2009. Including external links. More »
